The purchase of cardiac equipment started in 1994 and still continues. We have provided grants for the purpose of:

  • AED training equipment and related educational materials
  • Digital Scales
  • Durfold Cardiology chairs to be used by post-op cardiology patients
  • Portable blood pressure cuffs to be used in cardiac clinics
  • Oximeters to use on chronic pulmonary patients while in cardiac rehab
  • Digital blood pressure cuffs to use while doing cardiac stress tests

  • Cardiac teaching dolls for pediatric unit
  • Dual Stethoscopes, which allow doctors and parents of children with cardiac problems to listen simultaneously to the heart, which allows the doctor to teach the parents what to listen to when monitoring their children at home.
  • Laptop Computers, which are utilized by adolescents awaiting heart transplant. While awaiting their transplant, which averages 3-6 months, they are totally restricted to an Intensive Care Unit. The computers are giving them a reason to be active and will also allow them a way to connect with other children that have similar situations around the country.

In one case, our grant provided a portable oxygen tank in order for a 4 year old, with severe cardiac problems, to be able to attend his local Head Start Classes and also enable him to be outdoors.
