The year 2010 brings us to our 19th year of helping cardiac patients and their families thought our programs here at Heart Support of America. Our programs consist of assistance to individuals and also a program in which we provide grant funding to cardiac referral hospitals across America. We also educate the public through our free Heart Attack First Aid Kit. The kit gives information on cardiac diseases along with life saving facts and procedures to follow if someone is suffering from a heart attack. This information is literally a life saver and is available to anyone at no cost. We have sent out over thousand so far this year. These kits are along with education printed in our mailing reach millions of homes each year.
In 2004, we lost our Founder and Friend, James A. Halliburton. His vision for this organization was strong and it will continue to be the driving force for Heart Support of America. An exciting venture we have undergone this year is an updated website. Please visit us on the web at www.heartsupportofamerica.org . The website will provide education to those looking. With the advancement of technology, we must strive to make our mission known and as easily accessible as possible. The internet has become an important part of the cardiac patients life. It gives them instant access to information regarding their disease and can be a lifeline to reach out to others for support. Another feature of the website is the ability for our supports to donate online.
Our individual assistance helps cardiac patients and their families who are financially in need with living expenses, medications, and nutritional items. Each individual has different needs and so our assistance varies from patient to patient. For example, some may need help with medications only, while others need help purchasing life sustaining oxygen, or even mobility equipment, such as wheelchairs. Our assistance is based on the individual need of the cardiac patient.
Our grant program is as active as ever. We have now assisted over 21,000 individuals throughout the United States with our Grant Program. The grants provide indigent patients with items such as medications on discharge, transportation, food vouchers and cardiac equipment for rehab clinics as well as equipment needed to do actual cardiac procedures. Please visit our website for a detailed list.
Heart Support of America id truly a unique organization. Although we see the need for research organization and support their cause, we feel there is an extreme need to touch directly the lives of those who are waiting, undergone, or recovering from cardiac procedures. Our mission is to help alleviate their stress so they can concentrate on their recovery. We hope to touch their lives when they need it the most. Our mission is kept alive solely due to the caring hearts of our donors. Thank You.
